Wedding Photographers: "2022 is the Comeback Year!"

Weddings are about gathering friends and family in celebration - of a couple's love for each other, and for LOVE in the greater sense of the not-just-a-four-letter word. We've asked some talented professionals from our community of Wedding Photographers what they are most excited for in the coming season, and one thing is for sure... 2022 is the comeback year! Let's hear from them in their own words, below. A word of advice... pack extra tissues in your camera bag, because this season is going to be a genuinely heart-warming one!

"I'm really looking forward to the 2022 season because it feels like a sigh of relief. Many of the couples that I'm working with met at the beginning of the pandemic, or have had to plan their wedding against the overwhelming uncertainty of the pandemic. Now two years in, with vaccines available and more answers around COVID, couples are feeling more comfortable planning a wedding and they are really excited about it! I think the pandemic has led couples to really appreciate their wedding day as a place where they can connect with their loved ones in celebration. I expect big hugs, tons of laughter, and a real sense of joy that people are able to gather and celebrate in a way they haven't been able to in the last two years. And I'm so excited that I get to be part of that with them and document that joy through their photos!"

"I am very excited and looking forward to some international destination weddings this year. As a destination wedding photographer, a lot of our 2020 international weddings have been postponed for two years, so we especially look forward to this year. We really appreciate these couples who never gave up planning an international destination wedding. We have one coming this summer in Banff, Canada. We covered a destination wedding there back in 2017 at beautiful Fairmont lake Louise. The view is breathtaking and the hiking experience with the entire bridal party is unforgettable. Our gorgeous bride is wearing a giant Vera Wang dress and the groom and groomsmen almost need to carry her up to the mountain. But for the images, it totally worth the efforts and it's also a lifetime memory. We also have a destination wedding for Bali, Indonesia. The country is not open yet, but we do hope the virus can be under better control and Indonesia can open to tourists. Thailand opened the door, which is an exciting news for all destination lovers."

"I am very excited for the feeling of a return to normalcy this year. With mask mandates going away, Covid cases declining, and the increase in overall confidence for public gatherings, I am looking forward to a less stressful wedding season. The last two years have been challenging for so many, I just want for my couples to be able to have the day of their dreams, celebrating with those they love the most. Instead of keeping our distance from others like we had to before, I look forward to more hugs, more laughter, and the beginning of feeling like things are the way they used to be."

"2022 looks to be the comeback year! Though 2021 had it’s fair share of weddings, most were fairly small… but I’m seeing 2022 as close to “back to normal” as it can get.

Whenever, whatever, I am shooting, I always tend to fall in love with my subject, and my final image. It can be the simplest thing, like a headshot, but I get excited when the lighting lines up just right and combines well with the reaction I was hoping for. It’s of course fun to go to amazing locations and throw a subject in the landscape… but when that subject frames itself to look like it belongs there… it’s magic."

"As wedding season is around the corner, what makes us excited is being able to capture all the amazing memories for our clients and knowing that since we are a full service studio they will enjoy all of those for generations to come through their prints and albums.

We always say 'How do you want to remember the most important day of your life? ...Let us take care of those memories.'"
